The Purple Monster

I’ve been scouring the Internet looking for blogs, websites, even forum posts of people who ride or have ridden department store bikes for one reason or another. I came across a blog by a young guy in Ontario named Tudor Costache. He has (or had) a cheapo Canadian Tire bike he calls The Purple Monster. To make a long story short, after a 2,000 Km (!!) tour on The Purple Monster, he was riding through a parking lot one day when its rusted frame literally came apart.

The resulting post is a lament for his damaged bike and a plea to Canadian Tire to make better bikes. He also made a hilarious memorial movie to his beloved Purple Monster.To prove his point, his loyalty to Canadian Tire, or simply just to make matters worse, he bought his next bike from Canadian Tire, too.
