I’ve been expecting this since UrbanXavier reported the same missing bracket on his own SC1800. I used the kickstand a lot, usually with the extra weight of a loaded pannier on that side. Ah, well, no loss. I’ll just lean it from now on. I don’t know if the bracket provided any structural support to the chainstays. I guess I’ll find out soon enough if I go flying into a ditch or into traffic.
Other than that, the bike has been doing well. The new tires, wheel and bottom bracket are performing as you’d expect. Since those were the real problem areas with the bike, I’ve had nothing much to do except clean it and lube the drive train. I hope that continues.

Poor welds? Too much stress? Good old fashioned rust? Whatever the reason, the bike no longer has a kickstand.
I actually used the bike for some recreational rides, in the range of 40 to 50 km each in the past week. No problems. I have to say, despite the low quality of the material that went into the manufacture of the bike, it has comfortable geometry. I can ride it for long periods of time without even a hint hands getting numb or ass getting sore.
