Another Budget Bicycling experiment

by Steve ~ September 25th, 2007. Filed under: Other people's bikes.

Here’s another experiment using a cheap bicycle for commuting purposes. I don’t know what the Australian dollar is worth. By my calculations, his $73 AUS bike is worth about $63 CAD! He’s logging his trips and has done about 1,400 Km since starting in June. He’s maintaining the bike regularly and logging everything.

He’s also taken the step of tracking the value of the bike, to see if he’s getting his money’s worth out of it. He calculates the cost of a bus fair he’d use every day and subtracts that from his investment in the bike (purchase price plus accessories and repairs). Looks like he’s ahead of the game already.

It’s a Supercycle in disguise… can’t fool me. I don’t even want to know what kind of problems will arise with the front shocks. Be afraid… be very afraid.

It was my own fault Xavier, if I hadn’t jumped all those gutters it would have been fine. ;-)

(I’m not as hard on my machinery as many people.)
