Glad I was wearing a helmet

by Steve ~ October 11th, 2007. Filed under: Riding the Bike.

I went over the handlebars of the Bike of Doom at about 25 KPH on concrete today. I’ve done endos before, and this one was similar. My front wheel hit a pothole. The street was covered in leaves. Recent rain had softened some mud, filling this particular hole. When my front wheel it it, it went right in, deep, and stuck. Next thing I new, I was watching the road rush up at my face.

No serious damage to me or the bike. I scraped up my hands. Helmet took the brunt of what could have been a face plant. A cyclist slowed to ask if I was okay. I managed to say, “Man, that’s some pothole.”

Four hours later. I ache a bit. I’ll check the bike more thoroughly tomorrow, but it got me home without unusual noises, scrapes, or wobbles.

Glad you’re OK, brother! Luckily the aura of quality and safety that surrounds the BoD protected you!

    Stay safe out there.

I’m often a victim of my own recklessness. Can’t say this time was any different.

Is that why you didn’t come over for a beer?? Some excuse.
