Introducing The Awful Bike of DOOM…
by Steve ~ February 19th, 2008. Filed under: The awful Bike of DOOM....
Introducing, in the right sidebar, measuring 300 x 300 pixels and weighing in at a paltry 20 Kilobytes or so, a new weekly “cartoon” feature at The Bike of Doom.
“Steve would be perfect, if only he’d give up the Bike of DOOM!” with apologies to Glamorous Romances (Formerly Dotty} #41 (circa 1949)
Man cannot live by cycling alone. Occasionally, he must pull from the dank and dusty basement of his mind the comics that shaped his warp and woof. And, being man, must tinker, modify, abominate.
Abominate? Is that even a verb? I don’t think so. But “awful” is definitely an adjective. I apologize in advance to fans of Golden Age comics for whom this may be an example of both.
I’d originally thought I’d put the comics in random rotation, but after much deliberation (30 seconds while standing at the open fridge trying to decide what kind of cream cheese to put on my morning bagel… three week old, or fresh… hmmm) I decided that once a week is often enough to subject you to a new one of these.
If you play with PhotoShop or Gimp or some other graphics manipulation tool yourself, have a knack for bastardizing comic dialogue, and have no qualms about the vaunted tradition of “sampling” the very old* work of others, feel free to contribute, and you shall, of course, be credited.
* 1940s or earlier, please… not for the peace of mind, but for the tone.
