Slow start to the season
by Steve ~ June 24th, 2008. Filed under: Riding the Bike. It’s been a slow start to the cycling season. Just hit 1,000 Km today. About half, 553 Km, have been on the Bike of Doom. At this rate, I doubt I’ll do 4,000 km before winter freezes us in. Last year’s 6,000 Km was fun, but I haven’t been as focused on piling up the mileage this year. So far, we’ve only done two 80 Km-ish rides since spring, but I feel the fitness starting to come back and am looking forward to some centuries in the weeks ahead. I’d like to get at least two or three under my belt before the Muddy Waters 100, which, for some reason, always seems gruelling. I guess there’s a tendency to push harder in a pack, and all that entails … exhaustion, cramping, sore ass.
